the return of dance

SO DANCE IS BACK...

returning to our television screens on february 1st, so you think you can dance seems to look pretty entertaining this year. not only am i excited about the return of sytycd in it's second season but i'm also excited about arna singleton's classes at jason coleman's ministry of dance. that's right folks, mizzmai is back dancing! *victory dance* for those of you who didn't know me when i was dancing i was all ghetto. haha, correction, i was more ghetto. LOL.
during my vce years my friend rachael introduced me to hip hop classes at windy hill. arna was our teacher, and boy is she fly. inspirational is lack of a term to describe her, for once you meet her your instantly hooked. through her obsessions came mine, for adidas & kicks especially.
i'm so excited to be going back, after finishing vce it was so hard to continue dancing, only because my uni timetable always clashed with her classes. arna stopped doing her classes at windy hill and from there it was a distant memory. the love was always there, only the opportunity wasn't. but now it is! ministry of dance here i come!
*clears throat* i'm a bit dusty tho so ummm let me get back into my groove yeh?? ;)

ABDC - SEASON 3

so america's best dance crew has begun a new season and boy is it goood. the versatility is crazy, 9 different crews, including steppers, cloggers, flexers, and an all b-girl group. you really need to watch it to understand what i'm on about but i'll give u my picks for the season.
~note: when you watch the vids i recommend watching in high resolution... it's so much better!

Beat Freaks

these girls are exactly what abdc needs. an all girl group that can kick it amongst the previous winners, JabbaWockeeZ and Super Cr3w. with a variety of styles under their belt and a sick attitude these girls could take it home. it's time for the ladies to rep-re-sent! i can keep watching their first perfomance and not get sick of it... it got shane sparks claiming that this year's winning crew will definately be all all female crew. how u like that? here's their first performace:

Fly Khicks

sassy, sexy and smooth the fly khick girls are former nba miami heat dancers, and yes, they are in your face. smashing the stereotype that former all-girl dance crews have brought to abdc is one of the things i love about this crew. maybe it's also the fact that they too, have an obsession for shoes. their first routine was good, but they earned my respect when they killed it during do or die elimination round.

Quest

entertaining and funny these boys put on a show. i rekon they'll have a good fan base, due to the fact that dominic & hok were both extremely popular on sytycd us season 3. these boys have tricks, moves and will be pretty good rivals for the beat freaks girls.

Dynamic Edition

take a look at that group shot. doesn't look like hiphop dancers to you huh? well they aren't, they're cloggers. and very good ones too. although they don't have the usual hiphop moves dynamic edition are good contenders, they incorporate hiphop movement with they're clogging routine to give something extremely versitile and different into this abdc season. i particularly loved they're first routine, they're formations were so clean, and so insync with each other. also to the fact they danced to black eyed peas "my humps" didn't hurt either LOL.
