so after an awesome dinner and night and first day in sydney, the following day was the day. IMATS time!
day one of imats was amazing. us girls woke up bright and early (5.45am to be exact) got ready and headed out, due to the previous sydney day being sunny bright and relatively warm compared to melbourne we headed out in spring/summer clothes, thinking that it would be the same... too bad we didn't think about the actual time we were leaving the house, at 7.30am it wasn't that warm... in fact, a chill surpassed through each of us - multiple times in fact that we were rubbing each other warm. haha.
so we headed to the "light rail" (sydney's poor excuse for trams) stop around the corner whilst looking for breakfast on the way, ended up jumping on the tram and heading towards the convention centre. silly me forgot whether IMATS was at the exhibition or convention centre, because in melbourne, they're combined, but no, in sydney they want to be separated... *shakes head*

trang: *excited* "hey! do u remember when melbourne had an actual person doing tickets instead of a machine?!"
mai&lynh: *pause* "urrrr, no?!"
trang fail # 3
we ended up getting off at the stop before ours, exhibition instead of convention and walked forever and a half until we gave up, saw a taxi and hopped in. the taxi litterally went down the road to a set of lights, turned the corner and stopped. $5 for two minutes. wit made us laugh, but at least we were out of the cold and where we needed to be.
so we arrived at the convention centre, and were unsure of where to go... we saw a massive line, but it was mainly guys and they didn't look very happy... so we asked what they were lining up for, curious to know if it was for IMATS. sadly no, the guy looked at us with such a solom face and replies "an exam... *death stare*" to lynh's chirpy "excuse me what are u waiting for?!" laughing and wishing him goodluck we went on the hunt for food... but first! our entry into IMATS! time to get in line...
as a person working and studying events i can spot a hot mess of organization when i see one, and the pre-purchased ticketing booth was a hot mess. arriving there @ 8am, which is what time is was meant to be open, they didn't actually open until 8.20am, which is poor organization to the tee as i observed them brief the staff, pull out the merchandise and try to get themselves together. *sigh* might not be my business but it still frustrates me to no end LOL.

we eventually got our wristbands that allowed us the two day access into IMATS. mission one complete, now for breakfast! hunger calls! hrmmm ... starbucks? subway? we wondered around the darling harbour took some snaps and then it was there... MCDONALDS THIS WAY > 100M. hallelujah... the golden arches have called our name!
along the way there were these strange birds, don't know what they're called but they smell funny and they look scary. trang even had the nerve to ask for a photo with it?! she's never gonna learn her lesson... *sigh* trang fail #4.
we got our maccas and sat down to eat, but they're like seagulls and flock around food. annoying much? luckily we have something more annoying! TRANGLANG TO THE RESCUE... LOL
after breakfast we headed into IMATS, super excited we met the first of our sydney acquaintances... mister imats security. it was love at first sight as he blushed when i took a photo of the entrance, i was excited and anticipating imats, but he thought i was taking a pic of him, i played along... who am i to break an old man's heart ;) HAHA.
now in short it was MAKE-FUCKEN-UP-TASTIC, we wandered around stall to stall, amazed at the various exhibitors that had come out, all the merchandise and products that were on display, and the body art that was on display was mind blowing.

super hot on, but a hot mess in application - pass.

some body art models
another memorable person that we met was Donna Lynn Fox, a representative from evolve makeup, a brand that i had never heard of until imats, she was in one word - ghetto, in the best possible way. loved her to bits and her personality was a laugh and a half.
we then went to go see guest speaker Nigel Stanislaus who is charismatic, witty and a captivating speaker. you may recognize him from australia's next top model, as he was the make-up director during the show.

she did some amazing work, showing us how makeup is just not for your everyday looks, or glamour, but how it can be so simply be transformed into creative genius by just being imaginative.
our next speaker was Rae Morris, an absolute creative goddess who has published her own book, has won multiple awards including makeup artist of the year and worked with publications such as italian vogue, marie claire and worked with such names as naomi campbell, miranda kerr and hugh jackman. this woman is the bomb, although her speaking wasn't exactly tailor for us, as it was more on the topics of breaking into the industry and what not, it was still fascinating to hear how she broke into the industry and became so brilliant at what she does, even if most of the time it is pure luck.

after rae we finished checking out the rest of imats, and i had a look through the makeup museum, which wass interesting, creepy and intriguing all in one, can't be arsed putting all the pics up here so just check out my facebook album to see all the various things they showcased. lynh and trang went to go listen to Howard Berger, mister narnia man himself, but i couldn't handle another speaker... so i went to do random things like get my face analyzed, spend more money and swatch everything in site LOL.
when the girls came back out we went on a model rampage to shoot all the completed models in their outfits/makeup and headed home.

after nigel hunger struck again, and we went to a little cafe in darling harbour, got some food but was running late for our next speaker, senior makeup artist for MAC Nicole Thompson, came back and the lecture theatre was overflowing. shattered we sat on the aisle, still able to see but man was my ass sore afterwards.

LMAO trang vs. the bird makes me laugh everytime without fail!
I only spent $110? Yay Drewie will be so proud.
Hahaha I miss your security man, he was awesome.
Seriously though, does anyone other than me remember we use to have actual ticketing people?
LOL. have u asked drewie or nora? because i seriously never remember ticket people... ever since i've been in grade 6 i've always remembered a machine.
and yes, you only spent $110... on day one. LOL
how is it Trang, that mai knows how much you spent and you don't? wtf did you give her your receipts of the day or something lol FAIL.
and deadset Trang is way more annoying than the bird. I would rather have the bird walking around than to have Trang walk around squawking lol
p.s have i told you how banging tequila sunrise model is? fwarrr!
yes dave i believed you have mentioned that several times.
i have a tally of how much we all spent on my laptop... trang's memory of sydney is utterly blurry coz she was still drunk @ 5pm on sunday from the saturday night LOL.
