benjamin's 23rd birthday surprise.

surprise number one.
ben has been obsessed with ashley wood. an artist from australia who has made it big.
he released "figurines" or as i called them, toys every month or so. i thought it would be nice if i surprised ben with buying him a set of ten "squares", cute little things.
so the night before their release ben told me he was going to wake up in the morning when they were released and purchased them.
ruin my plan? i think not. so i bitched and moaned about how he doesn't save his money, spends it on stupid stuff and that we were going to hamilton island in a few months and he would have no money. in the end, he succumbed to my persistent nagging.... the next few weeks however i didn't hear the end of it.
finally i snapped... i couldn't take it any longer. I GOT YOU YOUR FREAKEN SQUARES.
over the moon he was, but shattered was i... for my brilliant surprise had gone down the drain.
time for a new surprise i say...

i love this pic of charlie vs. the squares. so cute!

surprise number two.
so because ben had ruined my squares surprise... i needed to get him another present, and this time keep it a surprise from him. we went shopping one day and we were in ozmosis. i asked him whether he would like a watch, for the watch he'd been wearing he's owned six year six. as soon as he tried it on it was perfect, matched him completely and he loved the simplicity of it. on his birthday before dinner i brought it over... gobsmacked he was. i hope you still love it baby :)

surprise number three.
i planned a romantic dinner for ben at Longgrain - a thai restaurant in the CBD. curiosity for this restaurant emerged when watching Masterchef, the head chef Martin Boetz, was a celebrity chef and his signature dish, the eggnet was the feature on MC.
although benjamin knew that we were going out for dinner, he had no idea that the surprise was that i had organised for all his best mates to be there as well. dinner for two? nope, dinner for twenty :D
i wish i had recorded his reaction when he had walked into the restaurant and saw his best mates spread over two banquet tables. priceless.
a seven course banquet was pre-ordered and the food was de-ish... the flavours aromas and textures were divine. would totally recommend the restaurant for anyone who loves thai.

the food

the friends

surprise number four.
earlier that day i had driven to heidelberg to sweet by nature - an amazing cake shop/bakery that does divine sweets. my plan was to get ben a b'day cake, bring it over to dave's and get him to bring it to longgrain, therefore keeping ben out of the loop. KEKEKE.
now i know ben has a boner every time he sees chocolate cake so chocolate cake it was. i ended up getting him the "marz attack". this cake was AWESOME. we were all stuffed after dinner though and didn't end up finishing it all. was shattered though coz longgrain cut it all up and left nothing to take home :( boo.

the birthday boy...

and his cake

hope u had an awesome 23rd birthday surprise benjamima.
my best friend and boyfriend i love you to pieces <3>

light years

ok, so yes. it's been lightyears since i've last blogged....

THE SHAME!

dave is putting me to shame... all in love with his new blog and what not. check that bitch out! a blog of everything shiftyshutters related.

so what has been going on in the world of mizzmai?

i am currently sick - sicker than i've been in a long time.
came down with something nasty yesterday and i went to work... where i had no idea what was going on, found a replacement for my night shift and went to the doctors, waited like 40 min before he saw me, and was nearly passing out in the waiting room. found out i have an ear infection (YAY) which is causing me back pains, neck pains, throat pains and blocked nose... who knew that ears were so important.
after the doctors i went home (cairnlea home) to grab some stuff, then went to ben's work, where i slept in my car for half an hour waiting for him to finish. i then drove to his house where i curled up in his bed, with fresh sheets and all, and my man took care of me :)
ben rubbed tiger balm on my back and neck, heated wheat bags for me to put over my tummy, tucked me into my cocoon and kept me hydrated with water. now that's love.
marilyn made us soup for dinner, which went down really well... home cooked meal is so good instead of the shit i normally eat. especially aussie home cooked. :D
i slept for a good 8 hours but felt so bad when he woke me up at 1.30am asking if he could go to sleep coz he had work at 9am... so i went home (altona home - am currently staying to housesit and look after my mum whilst my bro is overseas).

me and benjamin came home from our hamilton island holiday last week... was super fun and super relaxing... i must say the 3/4 days after we arrived back in melbourne i was suffering from severe post-holiday depression... i just wanted to go back. i still miss ben, miss sleeping next to him and waking up to him and going out with him. am i whipped or what.

so i've been nagged from various people to update my blog, here it is finally...

hamilton blog will be up soon(ish), 5 parts (one for each day lol).

only 23 days till trangalang, pumpkn & mizzmai go to sydney for IMATS! joy joy!
oh and it's jen jen's bday soon... :( because of family commitments i can't go... but i love you babe! hope u have an awesome 21st... won't be as awesome coz i ain't there but u know i love you! <3

big thank you to benjamima who takes care of me. love you more than all the cockatoos in the world =]

sytycd top 18

so alot was expected from this week as last week was phenomenal.

sadly, i must say i was underwhelmed :( the couples didn't impress me as much as they did last week, some of my favorite couples disappointing me imensely.
judge it for yourself.

TOP 18 PERFORMANCE SHOW

this week randi & evan performed a jive - super FUN; love the versatility of these two dancers.

melissa & ade performed a sonya tayeh jazz routine. we all remember sonya from last season's routine "the garden" with mark and courtney. this routine was just as rocking.

caitlin & jason are one of my fave couples but i was underwhelmed with this weeks shane sparks hip hop routine. it had the potential to be so much better than it was. :(

janette & brandon were DISCO DIVAS this week. awesome disco routine and one of THE fastest ones EVER in the history of sytycd.

this waltz that asuka & vitolio did was so heart wrenching. it touched me. but not as much as i thought it would.

i'm really loving kayla - she's quickly becoming one of my faves. this routine was completely different and she plays the princess role so well :)

karla & jonathan were so good this week, but like asuka & vitolio it didn't touch me in a way that i thought it was. top performance though.

i'm really behind jeanine & phillip, although phillip has the fan base i think jeanine is a really awesome dancer. she brings her own in every routine, if anything she might be better than phillip.

ashley & kupono had the same problem as caitlin & jason in their shane sparks hip hop routine this week. they were there. but not completely there. *sigh*

so this week was a bit meh. hopefully they bring it next week.

i'm predicting the bottom three will be:
- randi & evan
- kayla & max
- ashley & kupono

i hate to say it's these three, but i think the others (caitlin & jason - jeanine & phillip) have a bigger following that will push them through into next week :'(
i really hope kayla & max don't get bottom three. kayla is one of my favs, and i really like ashley and even. boo. this sucks.

TOP 18 RESULTS SHOW

so this weeks group routine didn't wow me either. *sigh* i think it's because with the group routines i like comparing each of the dancers, and i couldn't do that with this weeks coz i couldn't tell them apart LOL. mia michaels is awesome but. kudos to her :)

so the bottom three ended up being:
- caitlin & jason; - kayla & max; - ashley & kupono

unfortunately for them. ashley & max were eliminated. :(

nzntm season one

so it's finally over and boy am i happy with the result.
she's been a shining star from the beginning and she's a stunning beauty... all at the age of sixteen.
my favorite throughout the whole competition i'm so happy she won!

take a look at her porfolio, other than perhaps a few shots (swimsuit - 01, the face paint - 04 & michael hill - 06) the rest are fabulous! <3

congratulations christobelle!

*sob* now that's another tv show gone...
